A hush fell over Firth Park Bowl during the final game of the 1997 Ladies match as Hannah Brader rolled strike after strike, finally holding her nerve to make the 300 game which is the only one most of us will ever see.

One of the many press cuttings recording her personal record is shown below - Hannah is on the left in an unfortunately poor picture !

Hannah bowls them over !

Students from Sheffield University were bowled over recently by the heroics of first-year law student Hannah Brader. Hannah, aged 19, struck down the tenpin bowling competition to become the first female student to achieve the maximum score of 300.

With 12 strikes in a row, she also becomes only the second student ever to play a perfect game. Fellow bowlers at AMF Firth Park all stopped to watch as Hannah neared this amazing feat to win the final game of the afternoon.

This was the perfect end to a weekend of celebrations commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Sheffield Students Tenpin Bowling Club, including this match between a team of former students, and the current university team. Despite narrowly losing the match, Hannah was awarded with an Edinburgh Crystal decanter from Centre Manager, Bob Walker, on behalf of AMF, one of the sport's biggest promoters.
