Dec 2000 / Dec 2002 (Dave's third / fourth letters)

Year 2000 was a very sad year. One of our founder members and a driving force of the reunion club, Ian Austen (Ozz) died this year. We have also lost Ray Paget, another founder member, and Ken Dunn's wife Barbara has passed away too. Our sympathy and condolences go to Jane, Diane, and to Ken.

The 2002 reunion went off very well. A big thank you to all of you who came and made it an excellent weekend, especially Kate Tate (Frizelle) and Pete who 'popped in' from Australia on the Saturday. Many thanks are due to Roy Thurling who did all the work for the Saturday and Sunday organization and also arranged the wooden spoons. Plus, extra special thanks to Jane Austen for donating the 'Ozz Trophy', to allow us to remember our friend in years to come.

The Sunday morning bowling was still good although scores were generally lower than last time. Bobby has dropped 100 pins in 5 years, and me almost as many - so at this rate we will be close to zero next time. However, Ken Dunn has improved by 150 pins in 5 years, and Gary Barlow just gets better and better.

In the afternoon we had a comfortable win against a Uni side missing Hannah, although well represented by Steve Longfield. But they had no answer to an amazing score from Adrian Blacker whose 699 series and 268 game went a long way to help us win the afternoon bowling.

I hope all of you can come in 5 years (2007), we will be all pushing 60, and maybe won't be able to lift balls, but hopefully we'll still manage to lift pints.
