Streamed direct from Dave's Blackberry !

Well, 40 years on, and we haven't grown up much have we ? Our bowling may not have improved much (understatement), but our liquid intake has not decreased !

When you see people coming from Australia, Florida, France, Switzerland, and the Scilly Isles I think it says there was something special about our times together 40 years ago. This was the best turn out we've ever had - a record attendance for Saturday lunch, and a great turnout on Saturday night and at the Bowl on Sunday.

Thanks to all who came, and I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. I just want to thank John and Roy again for all the work they put in, and also Jane Austen for the Ozz memorial trophies. To those who didn't make it, we missed you, and hope you can make it next time.

The bowling on Sunday wasn't great ('crap' would probably describe it) with only 4 bowlers over 500 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, but we had a great time, so who cares !? High Series (and the Ozz Trophies) went to Bruce McArthur (545) and Margaret Hesford (412), and the High Games prizes went to Dave Twigg (198) and Susie Sexton (141). As always Gary Barlow (bless him) cannot win even though he always gets the best scores (595 and 637 this time), but we were kind to him this year and he got a bottle of wine.

Sadly, we lost for the first time to the students. Using the normal scoring method we lost 12-4. A face-saving suggestion was to add a handicap for age, and on that basis we really thrashed them (but don't tell them that).

As lifting pints still seems OK, but lifting balls is a challenge, we are suggesting having the next one in 3 years time (2010). Also, there's an idea to have a virtual league or knock out to improve our bowling before we get together. More on both topics to follow soon.
