Well what can I say, other than, what a great weekend we had again and again. The weather was good to us this time, and so May looks like the event timing for 2017 (our 50th Anniversary - ouch). To those who didn't make it, we missed you and hope you can make 2017. Graham and Sandy Brisbane came from Australia, Paul Dransfield and Fiona McDonald came from Canada, Mick and Maggie Hesford from Florida, Jon Brundrett from New York, Marie-Jacqueline Ballagh and myself from France, Alan Dale from Switzerland, AND Jeff Wilson came all the way from Indonesia just for the weekend (and he wasn't a Sheffield Bowler (he was from Salford) . So yes we did have something special back in the 60's and 70's. The only bad thing this time was the crap bowling (which didn't help against a very good student team). The weekend started in the Broomhill Tavern as usual, and a last minute rush to get sandwiches, as their kitchen was out, but just being together and alcohol seemed to be the focus. In the evening 47 folks' met at Halifax Hall which has been converted from the girl's hall of the 60's/70's to a boutique hotel. The location was a good choice and brought back memories for those who had girlfriends there (but we shall not go into details).

We then all met up at Firth Park on the Sunday Morning at 10-00 am. As usual we played among ourselves to find best few to play the students in the afternoon. There were 43 bowling, and finding the best 12 for the afternoon was a real challenge, as the bowling was to say the least rubbish. There were only five 500's, and three 200's, even Gary Barlow was out of form (126/200/229)!. The Yellow shirts were out again (not all buttoned up again), and looking in very bad shape for some (the shirts that is).

We had a good lunch and prize giving. John Strettle (625) and Maggie Hesford (454) won the High Series. Paul (IF) Dransfield and Maggie received their Ozz Trophies (thanks to Jane). Ruth Pritchard (150) and Gary Barlow (229) won High Games. Then of course we had the traditional wooden spoons for low game and series (Linda Jordan and Jack Lieberskind, Marie-Jacqueline Ballagh and of course Mike Body). Dave (TWIGGY) Twigg won the Virtual League, but a round of applause was given to Ian Hughes who rolled a 300 and a 803 series (but was sunning himself in Florida). Our good friend Bert the Bus was there as usual, and we presented him with a bus and a cake made into a bus for always getting us home safely

We then picked our 12 best bowlers (ha ha ha) and played the student teams in the afternoon. We put together 4 teams of 3 and if we add our age we would have won, BUT to be fair they played very well. They beat us 10-6. The usual liquid prize was presented and we all went home happy.
