About World Youth Day
World Youth Day 2008 is to be hosted in Sydney Australia. It is a chance for millions of Catholics aged between 18 - 30 yrs to come together along with Pope Benedict to have a journey, both physically and spiritually in celebrating their Catholic Faith. The official Vatican dates are 15th to 20th July 2008, however Hallam diocese planning to go 5 days early and will spend five days in a diocese in Melbourne.

Parish Representatives
There will be four young people representing St Ann's and St Mary's at this event :- Marianne Down, James and Chris Neal and Sarah Garvey.
An Information leaflet has been prepared by our Parish Representatives containing the itinerary for the Pilgrimage and information about forthcoming fundraising events.
500,000 Young People meet Pope Benedict in Lorretto

Fundraising and Finance Update
The WYD08 Pilgrimage costs £2,000 per person. This price includes accommodation, travel, food, registration fees and most importantly a contribution to the solidarity fund. By each of our representative going we are enabling a young person in the third world to share and take part in this fantastic experience
